This was a stressful month for the Backpack team. We've been polishing the last big things we had to merge into v6, finding and fixing bugs etc. I feel like we've been pushing the limits of most people in our team, but... we're proud to say... we've finally got v6 in a state that we can call... public beta 🎉 And we think you'll love it!

Maintenance

No updates in v5 - fortunately nothing was urgent enough, so our entire team has focused on pushing v6 out the door.

Backpack v6 - Now in Public Beta

We're super-proud to tell you that v6 is in a state where you can try it out. But first, an important note from our sponsor 😅

Backpack v6 is a "free" upgrade. If today you have access to updates to Backpack PRO, EditableColumns, DevTools, you'll have access to the v6-compatible versions; your purchase included 12 months of updates and upgrades.

This new release includes lots and lots of cool stuff:

  • THEMES! Including a brand-new theme based on Tabler which has... 🥁🥁🥁 dark mode 😱 and horizontal layouts 🤯
  • DROPZONE! Finally we have an upload field that is super-easy to use, both for devs and admins;
  • UPLOADERS! Creating mutators in your Models... is a thing of the past;
  • BASSETS! What are those? Read on to find out. It helped us get from 90.3 MB down to 1.9 MB!

For all that and more, please read the v6 release notes. Help us out - please give Backpack v6 a try, and let us know if you find any problems. We have 1 more month for polish, then... we're off to the races.

Thanks for using Backpack, and helping us out. We love doing this for you. Cheers!
