It's been another productive month at Backpack HQ. Pedro has been on 🔥 this month, single-handedly helping us finish a thorough security hardening, launch a new version of DevTools AND finally finish some of our first AI plans! But first...
We've had a few thorough security audits, both by 3rd party researchers and ourselves, and have pushed security updates to our most important packages. You can read more about the highest-priority vulnerability we've fixed, and you'll probably hear from Dependabot as well, since we've published a few security advisories too.
One thing's for sure: Backpack is more secure today than ever - and you should do a composer update ASAP. We'll spend more time on security going forward, because it's clear to us that the landscape is changing due to powerful AI - and it's important to get ahead of it.
We've refactored DevTools to be more reliable, testable and debuggable. You can read more about DevTools v5 here - personally, my favorite thing about it is the JSON schema. If something goes wrong, you can just send us the JSON and we can try to reproduce your experience. Plus... you can share JSON schemas with others, or save it for other projects... or have AI create a JSON schema for you... it's really cool.
Pedro has just tagged CRUD v7.1.0... which includes support for Laravel Boost. Adding a carefully-crafted Backpack set of instructions makes LLMs like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline etc - all deliver MUCH better admin panels, using Backpack. We're very excited about this, and where it will take us! And we're honestly surprised by how much better the DX can be, when the AI has a list of features at hand.
This is fresh out the oven, so we haven't published much about it... but you can use it today, just run php artisan backpack:install again and say "yes" to installing Laravel Boost. We'll publish some articles (and hopefully videos) soon enough.
On June 1st we've finally made some changes to our offering. We moved to a merchant-of-record, renamed our bundles to SILVER, GOLD and DIAMOND and added auto-renew, so you get all the benefits of updates hands-off. We've also added a bundle that gets you access to ALL our packages, for ONE project (GOLD for one project). We hope this makes it much easier to decide what to buy, when analyzing our offering. You can read more about the pricing changes here.

That's it for June. As you can see... it's been a very cool month. Of course, not in terms of weather - we're battling the heatwave too haha. But we're proud and excited about the cool things we've launched - we hope you try them out.
Cheers!
