We've been knee-deep Backpack v7-beta bug fixing - that's all we've done, all month! The push Pedro will submit today makes us technically ready to release v7, but... we'll have to delay the official launch, again. I'll be on holiday for 2 weeks... and we want to be all-hands-on-deck when that official release happens.
In the meantime, please treat v7-beta as if it's launched. It's super-stable, super-good - in fact, our own website is already using it and we're upgrading other client projects as we speak. Please see what Backpack v7 brings and install it right now.
Let me be clear what my recommendation is:
It's ready for prime-time!
I wanted to keep this a secret until launch, but... I gotta show it to you! Don't let the name scare you... this feature is easy to understand and super easy to use.
As you know, Backpack v7 comes with a few components: DataTable, DataGrid, DataList and of course... DataForm. It took us a few crazy months, but we've finally achieved something that's been requested for years... the same fields you know and love... can now easily be used in a form in a modal π€― Take a look at how simple this looks:

(More about it in this short video here)
How did we achieve this magic?! You'll have to ask Pedro, he's the wizard behind it.
How do you use it?! That's the best part - it's a component, that you can use pretty much anywhere, and trigger it from any links/buttons you want. It comes with batteries included too - CreateInModalOperation and UpdateInModalOperation, that you can use instead of Create & Update... or alongside it. For more info, take a look at the docs here.
This is one of the big reasons we've delayed the launch so much... this has beem MUCH more difficult to achieve than we expected - we've had to change quite a few stuff underneath to make it happen. And we didn't want to do that after-launch. But now that it's here... it's ready to use and... I hope you'll love it as much as we do!

Thatβs it for October. Thanks again for using Backpack, supporting the project, and helping us make it better every month. Special thanks for your patience regarding the v7 launch.
Until next time,
