It's been a productive month at Backpack HQ - let's get into it:

Maintenance

  • CRUD - 5 updates (we're still at v7.0.32)
  • PRO - 5 updates (v3.0.11)
  • Basset - 3 updates (v2.0.5)
  • TinyMCE, DataFormModal and FileManager - 1 update each

Test Generators Launched

Delivered - as promised. Starting this month, you can easily generate a working test suite for your admin panel. The generated tests will make sure that inside each of your CrudControllers, your Create, Read, Update and Delete operations work (with more coming soon, if this becomes popular). For complex admin panels that move fast, this should give your developers the confidence that as your app evolves... the admin panel doesn't get broken. We're so happy to finally have this, it's something we've wanted to have for a long time.

Read more about it in the launch post. If you have access to Everything... you can go right ahead and use it. Otherwise, take advantage of the launch discount, and get it for 50% off.

Laravel 13 Support

It took a few more days than expected, because of a dependency, but we have it! If you want to upgrade to Laravel 13 and use Backpack v7, you can do that, Pedro has made sure we have support out-of-the-box.

If you start a new project, we do recommend you start with Laravel 13 + Backpack v7. It's working, stable and awesome.

That’s it for March. Check back next month - we're pretty sure we'll have some other bigger news for you then 😀

Cheers!
