It's been an active August here at Backpack HQ. Now that you're back from holiday... we've got new stuff for you:

Maintenance

  • CRUD - 7 updates (we're at v7.1.15)
  • PRO - 5 updates (v3.0.29)
  • Theme-Tabler - 1 update (v2.0.9)
  • Basset - 1 update (v2.0.13)
  • a few minor patches to other packages

New: Support Tickets

Until now, in order to submit a bug report, you had to create a Github account. It's a complaint we've gotten over the years - because not everybody has one. But it's now solved! Starting today:

This also makes it easy for us to prioritize the issues we're getting from paying users, over the ones from the users of our open-source packages. So the next time you find a bug in Backpack... if you're a paying user... please open a support ticket, from your account.

What's your Backpack v8 wishlist?

We've officially starting working on Backpack v8. We have plans to make this the most rock-solid and stable version yet. So we've started with the maintenance stuff: bumping and removing dependencies, fixing inconsistencies, etc. But we do plan to add quite a few fixes and features to it. So before we show you any of our plans... let us know what you would like to see in Backpack v8. What's your biggest gripe with Backpack v7? Or what's the one thing you'd like to see in v8? Comment below - even a one-line answer can get us to do something that'll make your life easier.

That's it for August 2026. Thanks for using Backpack - we couldn't do this without your support.

Cheers!

What do you think about this?

Hi team. We are finding ourself using more and more livewire screens integrated with backpack and the users are loving it. While it easy enough to mount up a livewire screen, the environments are entirely separated, aside from routes. Would love to see some integration or even some ideas in the backpack demo how you think they should be integrated.

Will do, thanks Chris. Our whole team is loving Livewire too - we use it all the time. We just didn't want to bake this preference in the core itself... we think it's better to just use it for interactive components when needed. What would be most helpful to you... examples? Tutorials? Ready-made components?
