It's been a week with mixed work here at Backpack HQ. On one hand, we've been hard at work ironing out the last quirks in Backpack v7 - which is never fun, but must be done. On the other hand - we've had LOTS of fun with a new add-on, that ended up better than we hoped. I'll tell you all about it. But first:

Backpack v7 - Last Days in Beta 🎉

Pedro has spent the entire month working on one last feature that has potential breaking changes... and ironing out v7 quirks. We're happy to say we're almost ready to merge it (then again, we were almost there every week this month 🤦🏻‍♂️). But for real now - this month is the month, Backpack v7 will be officially stable and launched by the end of October. Those who have already tried v7 should already know - it already is stable, we just need to call it that.

If you haven't given v7 a shot yet, definitely do so! Now more than ever... we're ready for you to give it a look, we've been fixing things here and there all month! Please see what Backpack v7 brings and join our public beta program.

New: Auto-Translate

We've launched a brand-new add-on: backpack/auto-translate. Its bold promise? To make running a multi-language Laravel app feel as simple as running a single-language one.

It plugs into spatie/laravel-translatable and automatically fills missing translations using providers like DeepL, OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Ollama etc. That means no more half-translated pages, no more begging clients to keep up — translations just happen, behind the scenes.

Skeptical? I know - we were too. But we've managed to iron out all the quirks, and it's turned out way better than we expected! We’re already using it on multiple client projects (in languages we don’t even speak!) and it feels magical. Check out the full article for the story, examples, and how to get started.

That’s it for September. Thanks again for using Backpack, supporting the project, and helping us make it better every month. Can't wait to launch Backpack v7 & more new add-ons, so all of us can use them in all our projects.

Until next time,
Tabacitu & The Backpack Team
