It's been a few weeks now since we launched Backpack v7, so I'm happy to draw attention to one aspect of v7 a lot of people might have overlooked.
One cool feature that Backpack v7 made possible... was to include the Form and DataTable components... anywhere, thanks to the long hard work Pedro has done. But like most cases in programming, one "anywhere" is special... and requires quite a bit more tinkering. For forms... that corner case is modals. It makes perfect sense for forms to sometimes be in modals, but it's not as plug-and-play as anywhere else. There are many other aspects that you also need to take into account (like opening/closing the modal, what routes are available, validation messages).
That's why we've created a new add-on, backpack/dataform-modal - the easiest way to make your CRUD forms... show up in modals. Out of the box, it allows you to replace the create/update pages with create/update modals - in some or all of your CRUDs. Just look at the example in our demo:

If have access to our Everything bundle, you have access to this new add-on. Otherwise, you can purchase it for ~~99 EUR~~ 49 EUR for a limited time.
We're pleased to finally have something we've wanted for years, and eager to put it in your hands to use it. Let us know your experience with it below - or on Github.
Subscribe to our "Article Digest". We'll send you a list of the new articles, every week, month or quarter - your choice.
