I'm sure there are projects you'd like to be up-to-date with. Nowadays, there's a really easy way to do that, even if the devs don't have social media, or a newsletter, or anything like that. You can "watch releases" on Github, and that will send a Github notification every time they publish a new version. For most projects, that'll be all you need - a small notification that you can either easily dismiss, or click if you like what it says.
