Hey there,
We've been cooking hard this month, but it's all behind closed doors π I'll let you have one peek though. Let's get into it!
Thanks to our stable core, there hasn't been anything urgent to fix this month:
Pedro and I have been working hard at some very difficult problems we are solving in Backpack v7. And I'm glad that I can finally show you one of them, that's already solved - starting v7 you can use a datatable
component anywhere you want - on a dashboard, on a Show page, on a custom page... anywhere!
But that's not all, Backpack v7 will come with:
To say I'm excited about this launch is an understatement. We've been working our butts off for many months to get here, and we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. We expect to have a public beta out for you this month. Please follow us on X to find out when we launch. You're gonna like it!
One thing many Backpack devs don't know... is that we also help individuals and companies with services too - in fact it's a BIG part of what we do, and we have GREAT results. We just haven't promoted this part of our business much. That changes now - we are making our services business more visible on our website. If you're looking to build backoffice-type software... there are few teams with more experience and passion for building admin panels, ERPs, CRMs, CMSs etc. We've built everything under the sun - from simple marketing pages to complex e-commerce, payment gateways, video-on-demand, surveillance, etc.
We've just launched a series of landing pages to highlight some of the services we offer - and there are more to come. If you need help with any of these services, let us know:
Our team is the "secret sauce" behind dozens of other companies. And if you like our software... I'm pretty sure you'll like our team too.
Support has run smoothly - with the Docs AI, Jorge and Karan answering your problems and questions. Weβre happy to see more and more of you using the Docs AI inside our documentation. If you havenβt used it yet, hereβs a quick guide on how to use Backpack Docs AI.
Heads-up: we're getting close to the Backpack v7 launch and with that launch, we're closing down "free support". The Github Discussions forum will still be open, and you are welcome to ask and answer questions there - in fact we encourage you to do so. But our core team will NOT be monitoring it any more - at least not in an official capacity. Starting next month, our "community forum" finally becomes a place for the community to ask & answer questions, not the core team.
Why this change? As much as we like to do deep-dives into custom code that our customers have... We want our team to focus on coding features that reach more people. We've never officially offered support (nor priced it into our products), just been doing it so Backpack devs get a better experience. But thanks to AI, we can finally spend more time coding rather than answering questions. That's why we are sunsetting "free support" and launching Premium Support (available starting now).
How can you get help? Of course, we will continue to answer on Github regarding actual bugs and features. And don't worry, as a paying user you will have access to our Docs AI... and you can even purchase "Premium Support" if you need help from actual humans that have been in our team for years.
When will this change? When we launch Backpack v7 - in a month max.
We've published two new articles this month:
Thatβs it for May. Thanks again for using Backpack, supporting the project, and helping us make it better every month. Can't wait to give you access to Backpack v7 - follow us on X to be the first to find out when that happens.
Until next time,
Tabacitu & The Backpack Team
Subscribe to our "Article Digest". We'll send you a list of the new articles, every week, month or quarter - your choice.
