About the Backpack licenses.
A unique license code. Using that license code will give your project legal permission to use Backpack v4.x.x, and prevent nagging notification bubbles. Your invoice will contain the unique license code and instructions on where to place it, after payment. The license code can be purchased by the developer, the employer, or the client - we don't care.
The Backpack commercial license lasts for ever (like diamonds). If you need to rewrite everything in a few years, you don't need to purchase another license for Backpack 4.x.x. But you might consider upgrading to 5.x.x if it's launched by then. Historically, we launch a new version every 2-3 years. In between, it's all free updates. The current major version (v4) has been launched in late 2019.
Yes. Every license also covers unlimited subdomains.
Kind of. If you're running the exact same app under two or more domains, sure. Just purchase one license, send us an email and we'll add those parked domains. But you know that's bad for your SEO, right? You should probably be using a 301/302 redirect.
Sometimes. For example, if you have already purchased a single-project license and now want to purchase an Unlimited license, we think it's fair to only pay the difference. Just email us and we'll explain more. In addition, we have made Black Friday promotions in the past, but we can't guarantee we'll have them every year.
Yes. For your staging server, please use the same licese code you'll be using on your production domain. On localhost - you don't need a license code at all.
No. This payment does not cover inclusion in free/paid packages, multi-tenant software or forks. A special sublicensing agreement is needed for that. Please contact us and we'll tell you more about it.

Usually years. Each previous version has been maintained and improved for 2-3 years after launch. Backpack 4.x was launched in September 2019. Every week we push 1-2 free patches - sometimes features, sometimes bug fixes. Every 6-12 months we bundle all the breaking changes into one minor release, that our buyers get for free (the next one is 4.1). We try to time them according to the Laravel release schedule, so you can upgrade both of them at the same time. But it's always a good time to purchase Backpack. When we launch new paid versions, we have steep discounts for recent purchases and reasonable discounts for long-time Backpack users. We're very grateful to those that have purchased Backpack.
